The client who commissioned the development of the iQ-specta already has several scanners from renowned manufacturers in use and was looking for an even better system that could significantly increase and stabilize the availability, the recognition and evaluation quality of the essential wood characteristics, the speed of the evaluation and cutting optimization and finally the wood yield. In this context, a completely new overall solution was created that was able to demonstrably meet precisely these requirements as part of a complex acceptance procedure in the production environment and in a direct performance comparison with scanners from two different suppliers.
Our system is used in the further processing of hardwood and softwood. It is available in various versions based on product dimensions and number of scanning levels. The iQ-specta acts as a link to the internal order management (for example SAP, ERP or control system) and acts as a "master" to control downstream high-performance rip saws, cross-cut
saws or quality sorting systems. The iQ-specta scanner is a safety-enclosed machine that does not require any external transport devices or feed-through systems and can start full, multi-shift operation within a few days of delivery.
Purely analytical evaluation algorithms and logical additional parameters enable easy adjustment of the system and at the same time guarantee the best and fastest evaluation and optimization results on the market. No complex "labeling" is necessary, i.e. supplying neural networks with comparison images or patterns, and a "black box" is never created, neither for the user nor for the developer. The iQ-specta has low energy consumption and offers full accessibility to all components. The scanner also has an automated calibration option and a slip-free board and lamella guiding system.
